Launched by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan in June 2018, the CHILL study (Children’s Health in London and Luton) is looking at the effect of cleaning up air pollution on children’s lung development.

Children are especially vulnerable to the effects of traffic pollution, which can limit their lung growth and increase the risk of lifelong breathing disorders.

3000 pupils from primary schools across London and Luton are taking part in the four-year study, which will look at the impact of the new Ultra Low Emission Zone.
