Congratulations to Emma Kinley, based at the University of Edinburgh, who has recently been appointed as Student Representative 2020 for the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research.

The role of our Student Representative

Our current PhD students form a vibrant and active group, with 26 individuals based at various locations around the UK – and growing! As Student Representative, Emma will play a key role in bringing together our cohort of PhD students.

Throughout her year as Student Representative, Emma will gain insight into the running of the Centre, representing the student voice at Centre Management Committee meetings.

A key remit of the role will involve working closely with the Postgraduate Training team (Hilary Pinnock, Gwyneth Davies and Lauren Blake), informing the planning of training days, webinars and other activities to ensure the training needs of the students are being met.

An inspiring opportunity

“I’m really excited to get be the new Student Representative for AUKCAR 2020. We have so many amazing PhD student research projects from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines, it will be an inspiring opportunity to work together and contribute to the inner working of the AUKCAR committee.” – Emma Kinley, Student Representative, Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research

New for 2019/20, the Centre will also be electing a Deputy Student Representative.

Many thanks to Christos Stefanidis, based at Queen Mary University of London, for his contribution as Student Representative over the previous year.
